Mandatory feasibility check deadline:    5 December 2018 at 17:00 Brussels local time

FULL CALL INFORMATION

Call objectives:

The main technical objective of 5GinFIRE is to build and operate an open and extensible 5G NFV-based reference (Open5G-NFV) ecosystem of experimental facilities that not only integrates existing FIRE facilities with new vertical-specific ones, but also lays down the foundations for instantiating fully softwarized architectures of vertical industries and experimenting with them. The initial instantiation of the Open5G-NFV ecosystem was targeted to the automotive vertical industry requirements, addressed across state-of-the-art 5G infrastructures. However, it is as generic as possible in order to host other verticals applications. Read more…

SliceNet successful first year review in Brussels

The 1st year SliceNet review the last week of September 2018 in Brussels was successful and the whole review process was very constructive and leads us into the second year with renewed vigour. There was a focus on the SliceNet proposed architecture and testbed infrastructure, these were accepted and we are now moving forward with the implementation. The consortium is working well together on the three network slicing use cases of 5G eHealth, 5G Smart City and 5G Smart Grid self-healing and looking forward to working together in the next two years of the project!

Agenda – Network Slicing World Summit – KNect365

Mark Roddy, CIT, will speak as part of a panel discussion in the upcoming Network Slicing World Summit in Berlin, 23 October 2018 held in CityCube Berlin Messedamm 26 14055 Berlin. This event is collocated with this year’s Broadband World Forum 2018.

“Network slicing will be a panacea, but it won’t arrive with a bang. The enormous challenge & opportunity of Network Slicing starts with 4G – Current Thinking: There remain complex technological hurdles to end-to-End, Application-Aware sliced networks, but the greater and more immediate challenge is on the operations and business side.” See the  knect365 website and come and hear the latest on slicing. Read More
