High Attention for SliceNet at EuCNC 2019 in Valencia

SliceNet team - EuCNC 2019
Part of the SliceNet team at EuCNC 2019

At EuCNC 2019 in Valencia on 18-21 June, SliceNet managed to raise a high level of attention for its activities and results among a large international audience of experts and policy makers. The SliceNet team had a lot to show and present: 7 papers in the conference, a poster session, and an exhibition booth with 3 demos.

The SliceNet demonstrations in the exhibition showcased the capabilities of cognitive network slicing management enabled by machine learning. SliceNet’s innovative network management concept was demonstrated by Orange, DellEMC, and Eurecom in three vertical use cases – Smart Grid, Smart City, and Smart eHealth. Besides attracting numerous visitors, the SliceNet demo also attracted the EuCNC TV team. They filmed Marius Iordache from Orange Romania presenting the SliceNet use cases and achievements.

In addition to the exhibition, SliceNet was also very active in the conference sessions. For example, in a session on network security Slicenet‘s technical manager Qi Wang from UWS presented a novel approach for detecting mobile DDoS attacks in 5G networks. In another session, on ‘Artificial Intelligence for 5G Networks’, Salvatore Spadaro from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya presented the SliceNet approach for a ‘QoE-oriented cognition-based management system for 5G slices’.

SliceNet partner Orange demo booth at Digital Assembly 2019

Orange Romania exhibited at a demo booth in Digital Assembly 2019 in Bucharest on 13 – 14th June. The demonstration focused on SliceNet project vertical application of the Smart City. The demo consisted of lighting pools using ORO testbed infrastructure.  The demonstration also highlighted two other use cases Smart Grid and eHealth, as common SliceNet project achievements.

An impressive number of visitors were present at the SliceNet booth, including Mr. Alexandru Petrescu, the Romanian Minister of Communications and Mr. Roberto Viola, Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).

SliceNet returns to EuCNC for June 2019!

SliceNet are delighted to announce our Exhibition & Demonstration booth at EuCNC2019 which will highlight important aspects of network slicing for Smart Grid, Smart City and Smart eHealth use-cases. SliceNet will demonstrate network slicing across multiple administrative domains, meeting the requirements from the management and control planes. This network slicing facilitates early and smooth adoption of 5G slices for verticals to achieve their demanding use cases and manages the QoE for slice services. The SliceNet demonstrations will showcase the Machine Learning (ML)-enabled cognitive network slicing management capabilities in the following vertical use cases: (more…)
